The ofinto Ergo in the Kassensturz office chair self-test

We face the Kassensturz test: We show how the ofinto Ergo would have performed in the Kassensturz office chair comparison.

In the Broadcast from 16 March 2021 Kassensturz tested eight office chairs for their suitability for the home office. The products for the test were chosen by Kassensturz in 2020, when we were still putting the finishing touches to our products. Therefore, the ofinto products could unfortunately not be considered by Kassensturz.

In the test for the best ergonomic chair for the home office, Kassensturz examined eight different models. Four criteria were tested:

• Robustness
• Security
• Seating comfort
• Assembly

Below we will apply each of these criteria to our ofinto Ergo.

In the first test by Kassensturz, the robustness of the chairs was examined. We also regularly carry out the toughest load tests on our ofinto office swivel chairs for best durability. The test is based on similar criteria to those used by Kassensturz: we test the seat surface 260,000 times with a weight of 130 kg. The backrest has to withstand a load of 32 kg 20,000 times. We also test the abrasion resistance of the fabric cover and the stability of the armrests.

In a second round of tests, Kassensturz examined the safety of office chairs. The focus here was on the castors in particular. Castors that are too hard can cause scratches on the floor. If, on the other hand, the castors are too soft, their wear is too great and the rolling feeling is poor. Conventional office chair manufacturers often use nylon castors (the left castor in the picture). These castors are cheap to produce, but they are very hard and cause rolling noises and scratches on the floor.

Probably the most important criterion for an ergonomic chair is seating comfort, even when sitting for hours on end. Modern office chairs avoid neck or back pain through versatile, ergonomic adjustment options. Six ergonomic functions are particularly important here:
