Biogas plants on Swiss farms
This project aims to capture the highly potent greenhouse gas methane that occurs in agriculture and use it for sustainable energy production. Innovative small biogas plants thus help farmers to make an active contribution to climate protection and at the same time contribute to decentralised energy supply and security in their region.
Project type
Methane prevention
Emissions reduction
Several thousand tonnes since project start (2010)
Project standard
ISO 14064-2 (Greenhouse Gases) verified
Location
23+ Swiss farms
Sustainable management in the Swiss forest
This project in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland ensures the CO2 storage and sustainable management of 7,279 ha of forest. The project contributions guarantee that the forest density is increased and that older and thicker trees with particularly high storage capacity can grow. This sustainable forest management also protects native animal and plant species and promotes biodiversity.
Project type
CO2 storage in managed forests
Emissions reduction
245,000 tonnes CO2eq (2005-2034)
Project standard
"Silvaconsult Forest Carbon Standard" SC-FCS, additionally FSC and PEFC verified
Location
Forest of the Oberallmend Corporation in the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland

Protecting and conserving biodiversity in Indonesia
The forest reserve in Borneo, Indonesia, protects and preserves 64,500 ha of swamp rainforest in the south of the island of Borneo from the threat of clearing by the palm oil industry. This makes it the forest reserve that stores the most CO2 worldwide and the largest privately financed orangutan reserve. The project enjoys global lighthouse status due to its unparalleled contribution to climate protection and sustainability.
In 2020, this project was named the first REDD+ project in the world to contribute to all 17 of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals: The project promotes school education for children, supports the local population with solar-powered lamps and efficient stoves, and provides children with clean water filters. The project supports children's education, supports the local population with solar-powered lamps and efficient cookers, and protects children from deadly waterborne diseases with clean water filters.
Project type
Reducing emissions from deforestation and destructive forest use (REDD+)
Emissions reduction
130 million tonnes CO2e (over the entire project duration)
Project standard
Location
Bormeo Island, Kalimantan region in Indonesia
Stop deforestation in Pará, Brazil
The main objective of this climate protection project in the state of Pará is to stop commercial deforestation. Through this ban, a huge forest area with dense vegetation can be preserved, which not only results in a high reduction of CO2 emissions, but also contributes significantly to the preservation of the rich biodiversity in the Amazon region.
Project type
Reducing emissions from deforestation and destructive forest use (REDD+)
Emissions reduction
24 million tonnes CO2eq (over 30 years)
Project standard
VCS and SOCIALCARBON® verified
Location
Marajo Island, State of Pará in Brazil
